This week, representing LFV, we presented a paper at the 33rd Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) (www.icas2022.com) in Stockholm, Sweden. The paper “Stressing safety assessment methods by higher levels of automation” was presented by Lothar Meyer, LFV, and me. Other contributing authors of the paper are Åsa Svensson, Maximilian Peukert, and Billy Josefsson, all three at LFV, and Lars Danielsson at SDATS. The paper’s purpose was to elaborate on finding impending factors leading to Automation Surprise and to review the ability of safety assessment methods to identify the associated potential risks. The paper is a part of a larger research project within LFV.
