System safety engineering aims to create safe systems. Designing safe systems is accomplished by identifying, analyzing, and evaluating the consequence and probability of undesirable events that can affect systems and reduce them to an acceptable level so that the system’s operation does not harm people, property, or the environment. 

System safety analysis is an interplay between analytical methods and the ability to evaluate and present risks and implement changes to make systems safer. To ensure safe operations of high-risk systems, the system designer must apply a well-balanced system safety engineering already in its design and development phase. It also reduces the risk of costly changes at a late stage.
